I personally feel that a real conversation face to face with people works wonders, although through virtual mediums we can empathize with a person but reading emotions is the tricky part.
Since you specifically asked about a platform I am assuming it is a virtual one and each platform has it's own pros and cons.
I personally like Quora because of the vast knowledge I can gain here along with the human touch to it, each question has multiple answers authored by several individuals with different mindsets. It allows me to have a sneak peek into the pysch of the people taking out the time to resolve queries on behest of others.
P.S. My opinion may sound biased when comparing ASKING.PK with other platforms but I'm an avid ASKING.PK user and have learnt a lot from the great minds here, so I am okay with the bias.
